Coconut the Chihuahua

The two pound social media sensation, proves that tiny can be huge.
Coconut the Chihuahua lives in Hollywood with her mom, actress Mara Marini. At two pounds, she’s extremely portable and able to accompany Mara almost everywhere. They have a kangaroo pouch shirt that Coconut slips into. She can hide in there anywhere, including on airplanes when other pups are in carriers. Coconut’s social media tagline is “two pounds of love.”
Mara, who’s appeared on popular television shows like Parks and Recreation and Schitt’s Creek, shared, “I’ve wanted a Chihuahua since I was a child because Marilyn Monroe had one.” Unfortunately, her mother was allergic to dogs, so their pet was a bird. Thankfully, her mom brought home a somewhat hypoallergenic Maltese when Mara was ten.
Mara rescued Coconut eight years ago from a woman who said her Chi Chis had an accidental litter (but turned out to be a puppy mill operator). Mara had another Chihuahua named Monroe who had passed away, and Coconut looked just like him. Although she had sworn not to fall in love with another dog because losing them is so heartbreaking, Mara couldn’t resist Coconut, who weighed just a pound as a puppy.
